Vodka is my new best friend : Nikolai Vodka

Image
Nikolai vodka is bringing this post to you. My goodness have I been wanting to find a vodka I like. Needless to say, I have been drinking a lot of it before I started this post. Here's the best part of it all, I spent seven dollars for the bottle. Large bottle at that. Cheap vodka is the best vodka. Nikolai Cheap and good. My favorite duo. The brand was launched in 1963 by Seagrams and was sold to the Sazerac company in 1989 along with sixteen other brands.  Sazerac continues to use the same formula as Seagrams for its production process. According to Sazerac's website the vodka is quadruple distilled. Not sure how that effects the taste in any way. It's marketed as a value brand with a taste comparable to top shelf brands. In my opinion that's up for debate. I have only enjoyed this vodka mixed with Coke or Sprite.  By itself, the vodka tastes like nothing but alcohol. Smoother than most hard liquors, it is best served mixed. Being a va

Video Game Novelizations

Image
Video game novelizations are the best. They can add so much lore to a series. I'm not as much of an avid reader as I once was, but I still try to finish a book a month. Last year, I did good. Finished around eight books. First year trying out this goal but I think I did good. No easy task for me this year. I have put a lot on my table for 2018. Life pulls you every which way. Now that I am freelancing, my time is spent differently. I must spend time learning and trying to acquire new clients. If it hasn't been made clear I do video production. I plan on starting a blog for that as well so keep an eye out for that. When I'm not doing my job, I'm gaming. Yes, I do feel a little guilty sometimes for doing it. I should be learning, but life without a little fun is no life worth living. But, reading is fun for me too. A good book can take you on an adventure just like a video game. You have to use your imagination though, which can be better than what some g

Drinking removes inhibitions

Alcohol, or better known as liquid courage, is bringing this post to you.  This is a candid open letter to anyone reading this. I want to thank you personally for taking the time to read my blog. When I started writing I told myself I wouldn't care if no one read it. So far, I have seen some traffic to my blog. Now, it does matter. Kinda. It means so much to me that people are reading the vomit that spills out onto the internet.  I try. Somewhat. I am no writer nor do I claim to be one. I am a guy with passion. When I decide to do something I jump in head first. Video production will always be my first love. I make videos to express myself. This blog was created to accompany that.  I love a good story. Hell, I try to tell one sometimes.  2018 is a year for me that I plan on establishing myself. I want to be known as someone that tries. I don't have to be the best. No one is truly the best. We are just better than the person that never tried. People have so much prid

Game collecting with purpose

Image
I used to be a collector. Comics, Magic the Gathering cards, and just about anything else that can be traded. What I see now is a lot more collectors on social media. I'm not going to tell anyone how to spend their money, however I will say that it appears people are collecting just to collect. Collecting as a hobby has been around for a long time. It is much easier now to get our hands on whatever it is we are looking for with the help of the internet. Takes the fun out of it if you ask me.  What we are also able to do now thanks to the internet is share our collections. As a collector you want to show off what you have so others can admire just as much as yourself. But when likes on social media are what drives you to collect you lose sight of what's important. Collect only what you enjoy. I do not go out of my way to buy things I'm not in to. When I was collecting Magic cards I wasn't even playing against anyone. The artwork was cool to look at but that f

Character creation in RPG's

Image
I am a firm believer in you should really play as characters you like. You should be able to think like that character. Truly embody that character. Make decisions that fit your character's personality. At the very basic level, when playing a RPG that involves creating a character, you are role playing. You are taking on the role of the character you created. Once you begin the designing process, that character has begun to start its life.  With filmmaking, I have learned how characters drive the story forward. We watch movies for how characters react in the situation they are in. As an audience member, if we don't believe the character's to be real than we dismiss the movie immediately. You should see your character the same way. The actions you take should align with your character's personality. A barbarian probably will not talk their way out of a situation, but instead fight their way out. I know if given the option I'm destroying everything

My fear of Resident Evil

Image
With the twentieth anniversary of Resident Evil 2 just now passing it got me thinking. That game scared the hell out of me!  Horror fan for life I love horror. I will make that more apparent from here on. Huge fan of all things horror. Movies, games, books, and everything else. For whatever the reason may be, from a young age I have been drawn to the dark side. My mom may have been my biggest influence. Some of my earliest memories are of me trying to sneak a peak of what she was watching on late nights. My curiosity had me peeking through my fingers to catch a glimpse of what was on the TV. Always a huge mistake. Resident Evil  Just because I love horror doesn't mean I'm never afraid. I'm always afraid. Of everything. Resident Evil was a game that I couldn't even be in the same room in if someone was playing. That whole game gave me nightmares. The mansion was full of monsters but still managed to make you feel alone. The ominous so

Updates: Why must we update so much?

Image
I know updates are important. But my God! I feel like I can't keep up with all the updates. Everything needs an update. My laptop, PS4, every game on the PS4, my phone, every application I use. Twitch. Oh Twitch. I am having some trouble with Twitch. The problem I am having is streaming from my latptop. I have downloaded two few different broadcasters. No big deal. The issue is trying to get the perfect one. I started with Open Broadcaster Software (OBS). Everything was working fine, until it came time to stream or record. My laptop is not old or lacking power. It?  is however lacking the right drivers. I can't just let well enough alone because I moved onto another broadcasting program. Kinda. I can't move on without figuring out why I can't stream. From what the looks of it are I need updated drivers. Now I have to find the right drivers because everything is so specific. But before you can update one driver you have to jump through hoops to get

Wine and Cheese, Not for Me

Image
Wine gives me headaches. Not sure if everyone is the same. I can't drink it without feeling sick. Maybe it has something to do with only drinking cheap wine.  Barefoot is my go to wine. But, the only time I drink it is when someone offers it. My girlfriend is more of the wine drinker in our relationship. Unfortunately, she doesn't drink often. I'm the one left to finishing the bottle every time. Which might be the reason why I prefer Barefoot to other wines. My second choice for wine is Boone's Farm. Let me tell you about Boone's Farm. The first time I had one my dad and I went to Wal-Mart one night, but before we went in we both downed a bottle of Strawberry Hill Boone's Farm in the parking lot. He dared me, so I dared him back. Now, that wasn't the greatest of decisions. I threw my head back and inhaled all 750mL of that delicious strawberry delight.  I was sick. We walked that Wal-Mart to sober up.  Didn't work. Fortun
